On this page, there are various documents that further prove and explain what happened in the Watergate scandals and to Richard Nixon.

The file to the left is just an example of the 60 hours of recordings released during the trials of many different government workers for Watergate break-ins and scandals! This specific cassette is from April 19th, 1973 and it was recorded in the White House's Oval Office. In this conversation, Richard Nixon and John Ehrlichman are talking about blackmail from Watergate defendants.

This is a transcript of the recording above. When the word "unintelligible" is written, it is too hard to make out what the person has said, so the tapes could not be transcribed at that point.

The file to the left is a lengthy recording of Richard Nixon's presidential resignation speech. If you skip to 3:15 in the audio, Nixon actually claims that he is resigning. He states that "as President, I have to put the interest of America first". While Nixon was horrified at the fact that he would have to leave his job without completing a term, he didn't want to upset Americans. Nixon also thought that we should focus on more important things than Watergate.

The above documents are Nixon's resignation letter and Ford's pardoning of Nixon.
The video above is Gerald Ford's pardoning of Nixon. Ford seems very nervous by the end of the video, when he is about to announce Nixon's pardon.
